Hassan is concerned because Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which, as we discussed, is being challenged in another case before the Supreme Court, prohibits voting practices or procedures that discriminate on the basis of race.
Hassan says yesterday's decision is, quote, bad news, not just for Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, but for more voting protection in the states, unquote.
