And here's Julia getting more and more acclaimed and getting into these more kind of like sexy and elegant spaces.

Of course, Simca is like in the kitchen in France, not enjoying any of the spotlight.

And so, again, this is a between the lines scene that is not in this book that I would love to see.

I think there may have been some bitterness from Simca that Julia isn't even picking up on at the end of her life.

must be cold-blooded which is kind of you coming into this twosome and cutting louis set out and becoming the main twosome and now louis sets the extra third completely and that line reminds me of i believe it's in life is but a dream there's a scene where beyonce is giving like really brutal notes to one of her tech people and she says being polite has no place in business

And I think for women to accept that truth and live it is a really difficult and wonderful thing because society is so often telling us to prioritize the well-being of others.

And I think it's wonderful that women are empathetic, but to think about the feelings of others.

And when you're trying to make one of the most famous cookbooks in the world,

you may end up having to hurt some people's feelings.

And I'm not saying that that from an interpersonal perspective is a good thing to do, but from her grander kind of like life's mission thing, I do think sometimes other people's feelings, including your friends, can't be your first priority.

Yeah, that was so interesting to me because I think she even sort of talks about it very little, but when that's happening, because the other thing that's kind of wild about the whole Julia Child story is that she rises to fame as television is invented, which is another part of

right time, right place kind of thing, how she's able to become this household name.

But it also means that not everybody in France has a television.

And of course, this is way before the internet.

So Simca for a long time actually does not realize how famous Julia is.

Hmm.

Yeah.

And that's just kind of like a throwaway in the book.

But again, I'm like, I would love to read the Simca story of that.
