I think her success on television is a function of her success in finding joy in life is that she seemed like someone who really was just kind of down –

To trip around and see where the world and life took her by just not sitting in her house and doing nothing.

You know, she was open to television.

Even though she had some reservations about it, it was like she was an open enough person that when the opportunity presented itself, she was just like, yeah, sure.

I think maybe my read is that I think Julia Child throughout her entire life held a great amount of pride around her work, even up until the end of her life.

And I think that's also another reason that there are some holes in this book is like her grandson talks about how like she died while they were writing the book.

So she died, like, sort of mid-conversation, and then he had to piece together the rest through her letters, which may be why there are some things missing.

Yeah, and why there's so many dense details in the book, because they come from letter writing.

Exactly.

So if Julia Child perceived this as an attack…

on this work that she really viewed as, she says in the book, she views it as her firstborn child.

It may have been sort of childish defensiveness.

I get some criticism.

Totally.

But then I have to wonder, like, to what degree was Julia Child in her 90s cognizant of like how important the blogs were?

I'm only giving the soft yes because of how candid she was about her feelings around her creativity and her cooking.

Oh, that's really nice.
