Actually, it's not a weird question.

If you look at the Greek philosopher Aristotle, he wrote a lot about friendship, very influential ideas about friendship.

He said that there were three tiers of friendship.

At the top, there was the perfect friendship where you were almost like soulmates.

This was a lifelong friendship.

You loved each other.

You were one soul in two bodies.

And then you had these, he said, lesser forms of friendship.

So these were the friendships were based in just having fun together.

So you might like to go to the same sports match or whatever.

Or they were friendships based in usefulness or transactions.

So you help me and I help you.

And that's what the friendship is sort of based on.

And then those friendships kind of fade when the reason that brings you together is over.

You know, Aristotle was quite clear that this was a hierarchy.

You know, there was a really great friendship and then there were these kind of inferior kinds.

And I think we sort of inherit that, actually.
