I've heard it over and over again.
Friendships fading out because one person felt that they were the one putting a lot of effort into the friendship and the other person didn't really seem to care as much.
and it left them feeling that they were imposing or the other person was trying to subtly drop them.
Now, I think we've all been here in this situation.
So if you want to keep a friend, then do pay attention to reciprocity.
If they are messaging you, do try and message back at some point.
If they are suggesting somewhere that you should do something together, perhaps you try and suggest it next time.
That's a really good way of keeping a friend.
Well, I think that is a good point.
I just know that from all the people I've interviewed, it is the most common thing to happen is that people say, well, you know, I've over the course of the last few years, I'm the one who's always sort of messaging this person.
I'm the one who's always suggesting that we meet up or whatever.
And I just worry that I'm imposing or that they don't like me.
And it may well be and often is the case.
that the person is busy or does still care about you.
It's true, but we need to find a way to communicate that.
And that sort of takes me on to the next point, which is that one of the ways we can really help keep a friendship is by offering assurances to that friend.
It doesn't have to be a huge deal.
I mean, your example of giving someone a phone call and saying, no, I really do care about this person.
That's a brilliant example of giving someone an assurance.
Okay, that's nice.
