They say, yeah, jog on.
We're going to go and invest in France or Denmark or somewhere else.
What we do is absolutely crazy.
The only reason why we do it is we've done it for years and years and years.
And so far, we're still in business.
They're still within the EU.
So that means there is subsidy payments, which allows farms to take positions, invest in capital infrastructure, which we don't have now.
Our own fruit and vegetable aid scheme was pulled down.
It gave us a five-year view into the future of a grant scheme that we knew was going to be available.
And so that gave us confidence to invest.
It was a match-funded scheme, and so it cost the government £40 million a year.
And then it was match funded by growers to a tune of another 40 million a year.
To give you a much better certainty of having fresh fruits and vegetables, the government decided to pull that one.

It'll be too late.
Sustainability, because the way I see the government acting is that they are looking for...
bigger farms, larger players to take much bigger control over supply side.
I think that's risky from a point of view of feeding the country.
The diversity in the number of farms and the way each farmer did something slightly different gave much more resilience to our food production system than three or four massive farms producing 80% of what we eat.
