I mean this is this is where uh chemistry matters.
Just that an ingredient belongs to a a group or family of of ingredients does not mean it behaves exactly the same.
Because you know, chemistry is is very d very I mean, if you're not a chemist, very difficult to understand.
Because a single tiny change in a molecule, like just adding an atom like carbon or oxygen oxygen can
and make this mo molecule behave totally different.
So that's why we always have to assess ingredients as an individual and not as a group.
And that is what we need to do.
Where do misconceptions typically come from?
A misconception
to my point come from um misunderstanding or misinterpretation, uh mainly.
So you listen some to something, you hear something, uh a scary soundbite, uh one person's uh bad experience, uh or a ingredient headline.
And then you may make your mind up all around that one, um, but not understand the full details, and then it gets taken out of context and creates a known story.
And I think this is where
most misconception come from.
It's just because of repeating things you're not fully digested.
Uh and then um telling part of it in a a different context makes a different story.
First of all, both of them are alkalizers.
And an alkaliser has a very specific role and uh important role in permanent and demipermanent oxidative colorants.
It increases the pH.
Raising pH means open the cuticle, though dye uh um or color molecules can penetrate and can do the job inside the hair, whether it's lift or deposit or both, and that's the main reason.
