You know, it's just...
It's just reality.
It's my lived reality.
And it's not weird or strange because that's just normal life for me, the way that, you know, other traditions might be normal for those communities.
I think my, and to answer your second question, I think my editorial team, my
publishing team my agent uh they definitely responded to kind of like the the differentness because i i think for them they're always looking for books that maybe represent different perspectives or uh you know there's a real there's been a real push in publishing to include more diversity and to have like different voices that are still accessible to mainstream readers but also maybe
have a different point of view.
And so when they acquired my book, I'm sure that that was part of the thinking.
But as you said, it's also because the story is interesting and the story is something that you want to continue reading and find out, read to the end who actually did the murder or will these two people actually get together at the end?
Will there be a happy ending?
So I think you need both, right?
Like you need to have the compelling, interesting situation and also the interesting plot.

No, actually my editor is amazing.
My primary editor for most of my books is at Harper Collins, Jennifer Lambert.
She's fantastic.
And she's a very light touch.
She never asked me, she kind of, I feel like we kind of had two different jobs.
