It almost helped me make a connection between our books, you know, with how Nicandra is towards William and then thinking about Big Madam and Adini and just thinking, oh, wow, like how people treat somebody based on how they've been treated and how it all goes around and comes back around in a way, I suppose.
But yeah, I saw a connection.
See, honestly, I don't know if I loved this one, if I'm honest.
I struggled the most to get into it for some reason.
I didn't connect as much with it.
And I wonder if it's because it really was about ordinary lives, ordinary things were happening.
It's set in the winter.
I didn't find as much excitement.
You know, when I'm reading my books, I want like this page turning, something dramatic is happening.
And this for me was very stable.
And I think maybe that's a reflection of me as a reader, but it took me a while to warm up, funnily enough, to this book.
So when you're saying how you connected with it and how it even made you cry, I'm like, oh, wow, that's so interesting.
But I definitely did see the complexity in each character.
I understood how the theme of loneliness and what is the perception versus reality of what's happening behind closed doors in people's homes and these, like, you know, adulterous relationships that are happening.
And it's quite a complicated text, you know?
However...
It just didn't, it didn't excite me.
And when it ended, I was like, okay, this was a, it was a nice book.
But for me, I struggled to connect with it.
And I don't know what that disconnect was, but it wasn't something that hooked me in that same way.
