Yes, maybe you can try that approach, but you're right in the middle of this and you're doing that thing that is in the police dramas, on the street, on the line, doing all that.
How are you keeping your presence of mind in that situation?

theory that his father is the devil in this case, were you able then to weaken his resolve to go about doing this terrible thing?
Or how did you then proceed from there?

Is the plan to exhaust him really and the exhaust his resolve?

What led you to want to retire?
Because you're still a man who's quite in good health and in fine condition, I would have thought.
What brought about you wanting to leave the force?

It seems a bit odd that you had to be discharged for valour in the line of duty, you know, chasing after three really nasty, really nasty people who pushed you off a building and then stabbed in the thumb with a full syringe.
Are you all right after that?
Were you contaminated with anything from that syringe?
So you made the transition to university life.
