if you would have said it three months ago or four months ago would have seemed so silly because Shohei Otani is this unicorn guy, right?
He's he's the best hitter, he's the best pitcher.
How could anybody do anything better than him?
Well, Pete is the best hitter and the best defender.
And that really does kind of match it.
It it really does.
Then obviously, you know, Otani's dealing with his own stuff that's that's limited his pitching he and and and so you know the
there's there's that in terms of the actuality of this MVP race.
But, you know, to think that someone could have done something to make themselves equal or better to what Otani has been doing is is just crazy.
But Pete has done it.
And you're absolutely right.
It's it's the moments that kind of stick in your mind more so than the than the numbers, you know, when he has a three homer game, when he hits for the cycle, when he is the offense last night, when he makes a great catch.
Um, it's it's those moments that he has delivered just time and time and time again.
I think my first series on the beat this year was when he was getting an overrated chance from the Cardinals fans and he hit that home run right into their laps, uh, you know, in their shirtless section out there in right field.
Like that's a moment that just sticks in your mind and I think he's had so many of those this year, and that's the kind of thing that makes an MVP season and a season to remember.
Yeah, I think it's I think it's probably a continuation of what they've been going for this whole year, right?
And and I've had a couple of guys say it, you know, obviously it's not something they mention over and over again 'cause you don't want the uh you know, you don't want the Bolton Board material or anything like that.
But they were very much motivated by what happened to them in the playoffs last year and getting eliminated by the Brewers.
Um, you know, call it the bad taste in their mouth or just call it like, hey, they think they're a a good enough team that they deserve to move to
move further than that down the postseason road.
