Big chunks of capital gets much, much more limited than it's been throughout your working life.
So it's critically important to be able to make the right decision.
And that's why it's causing so much stress everywhere.
So five years out from retirement, I think, is the critical timeframe because your ability to make any changes and cover any gaps becomes really limited.
It's really important that you get a clear idea of what your numbers are going to look like.
And I always encourage people to start with the end in mind.
A little bit of blue sky thinking, what do I want to do when I suddenly have lots more time in my life to do stuff that I want to do?
What do I want to do?
What does my family need me for?
What do I need to provide for other people?
Where am I going to live?
How am I going to live?
Even down to things like, how often am I going to change my car?
How many holidays am I going to go on each year?
What's my budget for clothes?
Am I a handbag person?
All of those things, it's really important to sit down, start with that end in mind, and then you can look at, right, what have I got?
