It's not just me imagining it.
And and in many different ways it was kind of like when I'm like, of course I know some of these studies.
Yes, yes, this is familiar.
It was like
Coming home again because it turns out that my very first science experience as uh an undergraduate at UC Berkeley was in the lab of a pre uh of a professor who
defined uh and discovered brain plasticity.
No way.
Yes.
Her name was Marion Diamond.
She was the very first female to ever get a PhD.
In neuroanatomy at UC Berkeley ever.
Wow.
This was probably in the 1950s.
1960s, she and her colleagues made the discovery that if you raise rats in what they called an enriched environment, which for her was, I like to call it the Disney World of rat cages.
So you create this rat cage with lots of toys and lots of other rats to play with, and you change out the toys.
It's like a Disneyland.
For the rat.
For the rats and you let them live there and compare the brains of those rats to rats that were raised in your typical shoebox of a environment, small space, no toys, maybe one other rat, and you know, they all got food and water.
No, not yet.
They they tried to do that, but the wild rats got so wild they couldn't catch them anymore.
