But then I thought this other families are going to have this happen to them and they're having it happen in those days.
It was happening to other families, too.
It wasn't just me, just us.
So I thought, well, you know, and they're coming here.
they're coming here for maybe a reason because i'm a writer and i can put this down i can make this i can make this something that can communicate to people what this is really like and you know this is a huge thing because what we're going to do be doing now is after the process of disclosure if they begin to come into our lives and i think they will eventually not
right away, probably, but certainly over time.
That's permanent.
We're in a time in history when something that's going to be with human beings forever is unfolding.
Forever.
Because once we say this, and once we admit among ourselves that they are here,
That is part of our human experience from then on, and it will be part of the human experience no matter how long we exist, where we go.
It will belong to our children and our children's children on down the line.
And the book is there.
to form a foundation.
And that's why I decided I would do this in spite of the fact that it exposes my family.
And it did expose my son to a lot of ridicule at school.
The kids were every bit as cruel to him as the media was to me.
People love to bully.
They love it.
Too many people do.
