I think something that resonates so much with me is part of what I love about exploring query ecology and writing about and just existing out in nature is I'm always just delighted by the fact that everything is so strange.
And, you know, we live in this world where we try to put everything into boundaries.
And I think, you know, me as a trans woman, no one could possibly be strange on a planet where everything is constantly changing
shifting and evolving and growing into itself.
And I think that always just like re-centers me.
And I love that you sort of take us, you widen the lens out even further going from like queer ecology to queer cosmology.
I've heard you describe luminous matter, visible matter, like everything that we're made of.
We're like the cosmic oddities.
We're the weird, the weird stuff because everything else, dark matter, dark energy, that makes up the majority of our universe.
But we also still don't really understand what it is.
What is our best guess about dark matter and dark energy?
And also, what's the difference?
I want to revisit something that you shared earlier about the relationship between physics and metaphor.
You point out how physics is like almost impossible to explain without metaphor, right?
Even like, you know, these phrases that have kind of become somewhat common, like the fabric of space time, or, you know, we talked about like the electromagnetic field, right?
This is like metaphoric language, right?
So how, in your eyes, do poetry and physics really go hand in hand?
Because these are two fields that we are almost conditioned to think of as being deeply, deeply separate, but that you kind of bring together so beautifully in this book.
I feel like I'm getting all of like the insider academia tea right now.
Beautifully said.
