Currently, there's a four-month opt-in window after completion, and I'm requesting that they increase that to one year.
That gives us time as a community to
VOTE IN NEW PEOPLE ON THE HOA BOARD THAT CAN ADDRESS THESE ISSUES WITH THE COMMUNITY.
THERE'S TWO SPOTS OPEN THIS YEAR FOR A THREE-PERSON BOARD, UNLESS THEY WANT TO ACT BEFORE THEN.
After this is approved, I'm assuming it's going to be approved.
After this is approved, we have no leverage on what we're looking for.
And we don't have the kind of financial backing to fight it.
So I would love to see engagement with the applicant to figure out what kind of gates can go in that can't be driven around, that are strong, tough gates that won't be breaking down in a year or six months to keep people safe.
Because that's the number one concern.
Speed bumps aren't going to do it.
raised crosswalks aren't going to do it.
The only thing that's going to do it is a physical barrier.
And the only physical barrier that we can deal with in this neighborhood outside of closing off those streets, which I think would be a fire hazard probably, is Gates.
So that's the two things, continued engagement with the community, not necessarily the board, but the community as a whole, and Gates with a one-year opt-in after the end of the construction.

I'm not a planner or an expert, but I am a homeowner and a neighbor.
