How about you, Yomi, in terms of research?
I agree with the disruption.
A part of me just thought, oh, they just piss people off on purpose.
This is fun.
So when I got the TS shortlist, I was like, you are lying.
What is going on?
Because my landscape is such that...
I had to honor it in a sense where I felt like I couldn't necessarily do these things before.
So the idea to stop mannerism purely in Yoruba as the first poem is disruption already.
But that speaks to the fact that when I arrived in the country, I didn't speak English fully.
So I had to honour that.
So when a 13-year-old girl comes to me and says, I can't believe I'm seeing my language in the poem.
I can't wait to show my book.
That's the kind of disruption I'm talking about.
And that's what, for me, really, really works.
And, you know, Rachel's talking about...
disrupting the lyric stuff and what have you.
And, you know, there was a cheeky moment where I wrote a Sestino and I mentioned a guzzle in the Sestino poem, which is like, that's the kind of disruption I'm talking about as well.
And people just like, can you do that?
And I'm like, of course you can do that.
