It would be foolish in my opinion.

Instead, we rely on the Bayesian posterior approximation of in natural language.

And what this does is that when the system is not sure

it's going to hedge its bets.

If there are multiple interpretations, for example, of a statement about a particular kind of harm, then that will make the predictions of the scientist AI farther away from zero one, like less certain, which means probably the request will be rejected.

Yeah.

So there's a phrase that I've used in the past, which is, we want a plan...

that produces an anytime answer, right?

So what I mean by this is if we have more time, we will have something with stronger theoretical guarantees, but we don't know how much time we have.

And so there's a research program where the early steps will be, as you say, a scrappy system where probably the math doesn't apply because we don't satisfy all the conditions.

but it's probably fine, right?

Yeah, exactly, exactly.

And it's probably fine, especially for the first job that we have on our program, which is this non-agentic predictor that can be used as a guardrail.

Now, as I said, the guardrail isn't the full answer, but if we deploy that,

and companies say add it to their monitors, then it will mitigate the risks to some extent.

So it will allow more time to develop the more ambitious version that it is fully agentic.

And that's what we need right now, it's time.
