The first thing I remember there was I woke up in the late afternoon.
My mom was there.
I could still talk.
I wasn't shraked yet, but I was like, I forgot what it was called, but like the oxygen was being delivered through my nasal cavity and more of my friends were there.
And my friends from college, he lived right outside Milwaukee.
So he came and
I remember him specifically walking like into the hospital room door and just, he went white, you know, like it was like, like he knew what to expect, but didn't.
And he walked in, but then like stood behind my hospital bed.
And obviously I couldn't see myself, the condition that I was in, you know, like tubes coming out.
My friend Jake actually took a picture, like
of me that morning, which I didn't see until years later.
And he's like, I don't know why I took this picture.
Like, but I have it.
And I was like, I want to see it.
And I'm very glad he took that picture because it was, it gave me a sense of what everyone was looking at and helped me relate to their experience a little bit more.
And anyway, like that, when my friend Ben did that, I, that was like another sign that I,
was in rough shape.
I think the ER was especially lacking optimism.
You know, it wasn't really their specialty to know, but it's kind of like he has a broken neck.
Like we can see it on the x-rays or the CAT scans.
