And I don't think either of those options make sense, right?
Like if you say, yeah, you could add the center, but maybe you've traded Quentin Byfield or you've traded Brant Clark or you've traded Alex the Ferriere, those are foundational players for the Kings going forward, guys who the Kings really value.
And you're you're really just
filling one hole and creating another.
So I I think it's just important
that the Kings prioritize players like that and those assets.
Um, if you're gonna make a big move, it better be
a game changing, franchise changing move in that area, or it has to be a situation like Panarin where you can get value on players like that.
And I I look at you know the Zuccarello signing as value.
I I think the the Lawton signing was under what I was expecting in terms of years and dollars.
That's the condition that I would have had, and I think that the Kings had to bring him back was hey, we like you, we want you back.
But you have to fit the structure of what we're doing.
And I think that all the moves made since the Panarin deal were made with that in mind, where the the team is better today, in my opinion, than it was in game four against Colorado.
Um, but the Kings didn't spend recklessly to do it.
They didn't trade assets recklessly to do it, and they didn't handcuff their future to do it.
I do think that's the intention.
Um, we'll have to see how it plays out, right?
I mean, if you looked at the 2026 free agent class 12 months ago, you'd have been salivating.
And then you get there, and it's there's not a s maybe I wasn't a single top six center on the market.
Um, and most of the top six wingers were players like Matt Zuccarello, older players, shorter term deals, and the Kings got one.
