Portillo gets put in a bit of a tough spot because he's probably ready to be tested.
as an NHL backup, but that job probably isn't open right now with the Kings.
Um and on the other side of it you have George and Slukinsky.
Two of the top five prospects in the system by most accounts, they're both beginning their professional careers, and you'd like both of them to be in the AHL.
Um, but here's what I see is you you don't want to be in a situation where you're one injury away from having to call up a guy who's 20 years old and who's never played a full pro season.
That that's a tough spot to be in.
And that's why Eric Portillo remains very important.
Um, so barring a trade that involves one of these five guys, what I would see is the most likely scenario to start would be Kemper Forsberg in the NHL.
Portillo and one of Slukinski or George in the AHL rotating with the other one of them, potentially with the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
Uh we both worked in that league, Shaf.
Like we know the value that goaltenders can have in the ECHL.
I worked in Adirondack.
We had Mackenzie Blackwood for a short time.
We had Connor Ingram for a short time.
Um in LA, Jonathan Quick spent time in the ECHL.
Jack Campbell spent time in the ECHL.
Both of those guys um obviously worked out for the Kings.
So I think it's a short term solution where you could rotate those guys between the AHL number two and playing every single minute.
In the ECHL.
Um, I would love to see a scenario where those two guys are your AHL tandem.
