They're like, where did you get those?
I'm like, they're from REI.
Yes.
Yeah.
And I think, you know, I think I was maybe too focused on like, oh, I don't want to claim this and then be like questioned about it.
Or even though also I look back in retrospect, I'm like, I think I like had a full blown kind of like relationship with one of my friends.
You know, like these things that like at the time feel so much more gray in part because it was like, yeah, there weren't like a bunch of like lesbians at my school dating each other.
Like there weren't, you know, nobody that I knew had two moms.
Like it's just that thing where it's like.
you're like, oh, I think we're just like making some stuff up and it's like, whatever.
But yeah, I think that permission slip, I think I always felt like I had also heard some of my queer friends in college talk about like bisexuality in a way that was very, you know, like not in the best light, which I can understand why people like have their frustrations with bi people completely.
And at the same time, like sometimes hearing some of my like lesbian friends talk that way did make me feel like,
oh well like maybe I don't really want to like say anything about my own self then too because also I was like I'm not 100% sure and I don't feel necessarily like oh yeah I'll like never date a man again I'm like I don't know like if a wonderful soul walks into my world
You know, I'm kind of like, I'm open to anyone and anything.
And I feel like sometimes that openness or that gray area can be difficult because as humans, we like to categorize and we like to be certain and we like to be able to like claim what's ours and then what's not ours.
But I think that like, especially as I've gotten older, I've gotten more comfortable with that grayness and especially like talking to other queer women, like,
It's like I love going on dates with queer women because a lot of the times we just like talk about stuff like that.
And it's like so many of us have had such similar experiences.
And it's actually really validating that it's like a big part of the queer experience is, of course, just like this questioning and this muddling about and this uncertainty.
And then finally coming into a space where you're like, actually, I need to like put aside all of these things, like my worries about women.
