So according to the Times, Cottrell funded Farage's back office, his private security staff, his transport and his accommodation.
And he also apparently personally recruited and paid three members of staff to transform Farage's social media presence.
The row is that Farage again did not declare this.
So he appears to have broken MPs rules by failing to declare the funding for his operation the year before election.
Now, again, Farage is maintaining that this was private support, private donation.
Therefore, he doesn't have to declare it.
But the MP's rules are really clear here.
If in doubt about whether or not you should declare something, just declare it.
And the real question for Nigel Farage is, if this was all perfectly innocent, why not just err on the side of caution and declare it?
But how can he say it's personal if this posh George is funding social media operations for brand Nigel Farage, which is brand reform?
I'm really confused.
That seems quite clear-cut, no?
Well, this is where the Molly May influencer stuff comes from.
His argument is that he was an influencer.
He was just, you know, he was working as an influencer then.
That's kind of his business.
Nothing to do with him being an MP.
I mean, it asks the public to suspend an awful lot of disbelief, right?
