Thousands of those submissions, Ciarán, were asking that the three-day wait would be retained and many other changes as well.
But when you think about it, though, it was a massive,
recommendation to make.
And three-day waiting periods, like in Germany, there's a three-day waiting period.
of six days.
But the point is that if you are going to make these massive suggestions, you really do need... We talk about listening to the lived experiences of women.
How many women are listening to this programme who use that three-day wait, who decide not to go ahead with their abortion, and they have a child between the ages of two and six in their arms?
And get one of those women onto the programme to talk about it.
And let's not have other people talking about the lived experiences when we're only listening to one voice.
I mean, I come from the pro-life side.
I make no apology for that.
I come across women all the time in my work who wish there was somebody there who would offer them support, who wish that they had had an opportunity to get some support before they made that decision.
And think about a person who discovered they're pregnant, an 18, 19-year-old girl who rings a MyOptions headline, who goes down the road of going to a GP to have the first appointment.
That particular 72-hour period...
is the time when she might speak to her mother, and her mother might tell her, we can do this, you can do this, you can continue your college education, we will come in as a community, as a family, and we will support you.
We come across people all the time who are distraught and devastated and feel betrayed that they kind of weren't given more opportunity to go ahead and parent their children.
So we need to stop telling women you can't do this and tell them you can do it and support them.
And I wish Sinn Féin was bringing forward legislation to help women in homelessness, to help women who are in poverty, instead of just removing one of the last safeguards of this abortion law.
And remember as well, Ciarán, before people voted, and there's a lot of people who voted yes,
good people who voted yes because, you know, to save women's lives back in 2018 because they thought that's what it was about, they voted yes because they were given this safeguard from leadership in Fine Gael.
