Aston Villa have spent big during the January transfer window with the £23 million purchase of left-back Lucas Digne and the loan signing of Coutinho. The club has also signed the less well-known Kerr Smith from Dundee United for a fee which could reportedly rise to £2 million.Smith made his first-team debut for the Scottish club aged 16 against Rangers, then managed by Steven Gerrard.
