With the BetaShares WealthBuilder range, investors can access moderate gearing into shares, and with the newly launched GG-BL, That means exposure to a diversified portfolio of around 1,300 global companies excluding Australia, all with no loan applications, credit checks, or margin calls. Gearing magnifies both gains and losses, so it's only suitable for investors with a very high tolerance for risk. You can learn more about the WealthBuilder range of ETFs at the BetaShares website. And don't forget to read the PDS and TMD to decide if it's right for you. BetaShares Capital Limited is the issuer.

For folks who don't listen to the Australian Investors Podcast, that's the yellow one in your podcast player. Drew and I co-host that every week. So, this is the first time you've ever, in the history of us knowing each other, appeared on the Finance Podcast. First crossover. First crossover.
Yeah, and you had to walk, what, five feet down to the studio?
Into the same studio.
Different chair? I think maybe different chair.
Yeah, different chair. More professional.
And you're a financial advisor.
Yes. How long have you been doing that for? I started in 2005, so 17 years now.
It's a long period of time.
A lot of change during that period.
Were you like 27, 28, something like that? Yeah, I started when I was 12. So, what are we talking about?
Why do some companies pay dividends while others do not?
Don't look a day over 30, mate.
No. So, today we're talking about dividend income stocks and a few different ideas and what they are and how to find some of that information. So, we've got Drew, an actual qualified financial advisor to chat us through all of this in today's episode.
I deal with a lot of retirees, so dividend stocks are completely central to that discussion.
This is your bread and butter.
Yeah, right in the wheelhouse, as the saying would go.
Is it possible, just as a very broad stroke, is it possible to get 5% income from a portfolio sustainably?
Yes. It's a short answer, but I mean, we work on, I think I've said on the investors podcast a few times, we work on this very basic assumption that a balanced portfolio, so broadly balanced between growth and defensive assets, you can expect 5% per annum.
