Bloomberg's Michael McKee tells us the meeting went pretty much as expected. No change in rates and the Fed leaves open the option of cutting rates in the future. Stephen Myron and Chris Waller dissent in favor of a rate cut. Michelle Bowman does not.
The Fed statement left the door open for more rate cuts but didn't give any hints as to when or why they might do that. Multiple news outlets are reporting those federal agents involved in Saturday's deadly shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis are now on administrative leave. Some lawmakers had called for those agents to be taken out of the field.
President Trump criticized Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry after Fry said the city would not change its immigration policies. Trump posting on social media that Fry is, quote, playing with fire. FBI agents have executed a search warrant at the Fulton County Elections Office near Atlanta.
