News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Nathan Hager. It's a tale of two diplomatic tracks for the U.S. in Geneva. On the one hand, the U.S. and Iran are reporting progress after their latest indirect talks over Tehran's nuclear program. Golnar Motavali is head of Bloomberg's Iran coverage.
But positive, general positive mood music suggests that they are planning to meet again. And in fact, the Iranian foreign minister did say that there will be a third round of talks on the table. We just don't know when that's going to be and what the date for that is.
Bloomberg's Gulnar Motavali reports Vice President J.D. Vance told Fox News that Iran is still not engaging on President Trump's red lines and that all options are still on the table. Crude oil is rising off the back of that. West Texas Intermediate is up 3.1 percent. Brent is up 3 percent. As for the other Geneva talks between Russia and Ukraine, a second day of discussions there only lasted 90 minutes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was left accusing Moscow of dragging things along. Bloomberg's Tony Halpin is tracking that from Dubai.
That's certainly the fear of European allies of Ukraine. They think that Putin isn't really serious about a peace deal, that he's just dragging things out to string Trump along in many ways and hope to make a breakthrough on the ground.
