News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Nathan Hager. We have made it to the end of a volatile week on Wall Street. That is the sound of the Friday morning opening bell from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. At the open, the S&P 500 is little changed to lower, down about five points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down three-tenths of one percent.
That's a drop of nearly 150 points. And the Nasdaq Composite is just ever so slightly in the green at the open. Ten-year Treasury yield is little changed at 4.24%. We'll get back to the market in a moment, but we've got to talk about the weather.
Right now we're ready for 36 straight hours of snowfall.
That's the mayor of Edison, New Jersey, getting ready for a major winter storm that's got just about half the country in its sights. And Bloomberg meteorologist Rob Carolin says it's just getting started.
As the day goes on over Texas and Oklahoma, and that's where we'll start to see problems later today, Dallas up into Oklahoma City with some snow, sleet and freezing rain. And then it spreads quickly off towards the east. We're going to see it moving into the mid-Atlantic states by late in the day tomorrow.
It's into the New York City area by early Sunday morning and then into Boston Sunday afternoon.

Chapter 2: How are U.S. stock indices performing at the market open?
She is there for talks today with her counterpart in the Arctic Territory after President Trump announced he'd reached a framework for a future deal on the island with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
We can do anything we want. We can do military. We can do anything we want. And it's being negotiated. And let's see what happens. I think it'll be good.
It was President Trump aboard Air Force One last night. Bloomberg News has learned the U.S. wants to rewrite its existing defense agreement with Denmark to remove any limits on its military presence in Greenland indefinitely. That treaty dates back to 1951. It already has few restrictions on the U.S. military. The European Union says it's suspending retaliatory tariffs on the U.S.
for another six months after President Trump backed off his tariff threats over Greenland. Those duties would have covered about $109 billion in American exports from Boeing planes to cars and bourbon. Russia is reporting little progress after more than four hours of late-night talks with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow. Bloomberg's Oliver Crook has more from Brussels.
Now that we basically have solidified those security guarantees from the United States to the Ukrainians for the post-war, but that's for the day after. The day today is still dealing with that one fundamental issue, those territorial concessions, the Russians wanting all of the Donbass to basically be given to the Russians, despite the fact that they do not control at all.
It is very hard to see how to break through that impasse.
Bloomberg's Oliver Crook reports U.S., Ukrainian and Russian negotiators plan to keep at it today and tomorrow in talks in the United Arab Emirates. Now President Trump says he's got his eyes on Iran. The president told reporters on Air Force One last night a large flotilla is headed that way. He described it as an armada.
Last week, the president backed off threats to strike Iran after saying he'd gotten assurances the regime would stop killing protesters. MS Now is reporting the Trump administration plans to deport at least 40 Iranians starting as early as this Sunday. The report cites unnamed people familiar with the matter.
President Trump says his Board of Peace has uninvited Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney after the World Economic Forum seemed to ratchet tensions up again between the two leaders. Bloomberg's Tyler Kendall has more from Washington.
