News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Nathan Hager. Tuesday morning trading is underway on Wall Street and the tech bounce back. Looks like it's set for a second day. That's the sound of the opening bell from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. At the open, the S&P 500 is higher by a half percent, up about 40 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up two-tenths of one percent, a more than 100-point gain there. And the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite is leading the gains up seven-tenths of one percent. We'll get back to what's driving the market in a moment, but we begin with the latest from the Middle East. President Trump says talks with Iran are back on track after Israel and Iran both agreed to stop attacking each other.

He said that we could have an idea on the Iran deal by one or two days at this point. And he said that the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz will continue to hold until this MOU or the interim deal that we've been talking about over the past couple of months comes to place, essentially.
Still, Bloomberg's Abir Abu Omar reports both Israel and Iran have threatened even stronger attacks if either side starts fighting again. And an Army Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz overnight. U.S. Central Command says the two pilots were rescued within two hours of the incident off the Oman coast. It says the cause is still being investigated. It's another primary election day across the country. Voters are headed to the polls in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, and South Carolina. The Maine Senate primary could be one to watch, even though both Democrat Graham Plattner and Republican incumbent Susan Collins are expected to win their primaries. Bloomberg's Megan Crane explains.
That would be a big question as to how much the controversies surrounding Graham Plattner really are affecting turnout, are affecting Democrats, whether they do turn against him or just don't vote for him in this race.

Democrats still see Maine as one of their best chances to flip a Republican Senate seat. In South Carolina, the Republican governor's race features Trump-backed Lieutenant Governor Pamela Yvette taking on Congress members Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman in a five-way field. And Democrats are hoping to flip the Nevada governor's seat. Republican Joe Lombardo is seen as one of the most vulnerable GOP governors in the country. The California governor's race appears set after nearly a week of mail-in ballot counting. Republican Steve Hilton is projected to hold on to second and take on Democrat Javier Becerra in November.
On Capitol Hill today, House Republicans are looking to get nearly $70 billion in immigration enforcement funds over the finish line. Speaker Mike Johnson will need near-perfect attendance on his side to get it done. The Senate narrowly passed the bill last week after months of wrangling over funds for President Trump's White House ballroom and a Justice Department anti-weaponization fund. Meanwhile, Bloomberg government has learned Speaker Johnson will be at the White House today as a key spy powers tool is set to expire.
