If you think back to the time this season when the Jays have really been rolling, you know, they escaped April and May, things started to happen. June, you're starting to realize this is a really good ball club. This was the type of win they were getting. It was a win where up and down the lineup you were getting the contributions. It wasn't always the stars. It wasn't always the home run ball. And the bullpen was lights out. Now it's a bit of a different cast of guys, but five innings of shutout ball from the bullpen is exactly what this group needed. And the bottom of the lineup kept delivering in this game. Before the game, I kind of said, you know what, they might need the big guys because it's a bit of a defense first sort of lineup.
It's more the role players that they're using. They've left a lot of offense on the bench. I was completely wrong about that. They left no offense on the bench. The guys they rolled out, they were able to get the hits, and some of them fell in. They were a little bit bloopy. You know, think of that Heinemann double, that Ernie Clement single. It did feel like they got some bounces. They needed some bounces, and that was enough to get them a fairly decisive win at the end of the day.

I think you have to start with the bullpen here because it had been such an issue and they were mainly rolling out the same guys who had been struggling so much and each and every one of them delivered. I know you could say, hey, what about Brendan Little? That was not fantastic. You know what? Brendan Little, the pitcher, was great. He was getting balls,

inducing ground balls right back to the mound over and over again. That's exactly what you want to do. Brendan Little, the fielder, was atrocious, but he did have that one moment of redemption. Anyway, we can move beyond Little because he's not the protagonist here. The guy you've got to talk about is Tommy Nance. And they were in a point of the ballgame where it felt like a tipping moment. It could easily go either way. The Brewers could open up the game, get a significant lead. The base is loaded. Only one out.
