will ever see again. I mean, we've talked about this before, but how many pitchers are going to reach 3000 strikeouts the way starters are used? Probably not many, right? I mean, Verlander is the only other active pitcher who has 3000 strikeouts and not something we might see very often if, if ever again, but you know, this game still, still is a, it's a disappointing loss when you lose a, what feels like a somewhat winnable game, it's tough, right? The Dodgers did not bash their way to a win in this game. They kind of walked their way to a win, actually, but six total walks, Is that right? Or did they get another one at the very end? Yeah, six total walks from the Dodgers this evening. And they largely capitalized on it, right?
And look, we'll get to the pitching for the Blue Jays. Some good, I think mostly good, actually, from Scherzer. Some not so good from Little. I think most of the texts are about Little right now. But let's face it, one run isn't going to cut it against the Dodgers or, frankly, most teams, right? We haven't had to say this a lot this year, but this loss... Perhaps feels like it is a little more on the offense than it is the pitching. And again, we haven't had to say it because the offense has been quite good for most of the season. But truthfully, it does feel like everyone wore this to a certain extent, right? I mean, even Scherzer making that one big mistake, as we've often discussed. I mean, some less than ideal defensive plays slash decisions with the ball in people's hands.
And then, of course, Brendan Little having one of his worst outings of the season. You know, the last thing you want to. as the Blue Jays, was to let Mookie Betts get hot, right? He has been having a truly miserable season. I mean, he had the broken hand last year. He had said to Dodgers media, we spoke to a Dodgers guest on the pregame show today, on JSOC Plus and the pregame show, actually, but Jack Harris telling me that... You know, Betts had told him and the rest of the Dodgers beat that he hasn't felt right since the broken hand. He had that mystery illness at the beginning of the season, like preseason, which obviously affected him when the Dodgers started the season in Japan. Then he lost all that weight.
