Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?

0.031 - 21.056 Dr. Laurie Santos

Dr. Laurie Santos from the Happiness Lab here. It's the season of giving, and this year my podcast, the Happiness Lab, is partnering with GiveDirectly, a nonprofit that provides people in extreme poverty with the cash they need as part of the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. Our goal this year is to raise $1 million, which will bring over 700 families out of extreme poverty.

21.596 - 43.274 Dr. Laurie Santos

Your donation will put cash directly in the hands of these families in need. And they'll get to decide how to use it, whether that's school transportation, purchasing livestock, or starting a business. Plus, if you're a first-time donor, your gift will be matched by giving multiplier, which means more money for those in need. Visit givedirectly.org slash happiness lab to learn more and to donate.

51.142 - 54.146 Jose

I'm Dr. Priyanka Wally, a double board certified physician.

54.286 - 64.7 Alexis

And I'm Hari Kundabolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled, do I have scurvy at 3 a.m.? And on our show, we're talking about health in a different way, like our episode where we look at diabetes.

65.361 - 69.627 Jose

In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic.

69.742 - 72.23 Alexis

How preventable is type 2?

72.691 - 79.633 Dr. Laurie Santos

Extremely. Listen to Health Stuff on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Chapter 2: What Thanksgiving turkey troubles does Brooke share?

567.576 - 594.917 Jose

Yeah, and I cannot admit that. That's too shameful to have to reach out for help. So I decide the smartest thing to do is rely on muscle memory because I've typed in the code a million times. So I reverse my car and I pull back up to the gate again, try the code. Did it work? Nope. Reverse again. Further back this time. All the way back into the gate. Fail. I do this no joke for about 15 minutes.

At that point, I just ram the bar. Drive through it. I was willing to stay the night in the garage rather than call or text for help. But somehow, by the grace of Jehovah, I pull up one last time, my fingers remember, and the gate lifts, and I'm out. Deal vault brain comes through once again.

Can we get security footage of you doing this?

0

618.245 - 625.039 Jose

Anyway, that's what's been on our minds. You can text in 78592 and tell us what's been on yours. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
