Does AI have a soul and how is that defined?
When we think about AI, we do not necessarily think about it being spiritual or having soul.
AI has a soul depending on how you configure it. So the AI behaves like you. If people have souls and we can replicate a version of a person, yes, it has a soul. There's no limit to how many people I can help with a digital twin. What if we take the AI and configure something like a human with the empathy and the therapeutic support? And isn't that what spirituality about is about? It's about believing in the goodness of humans.
When we think about AI, we do not necessarily think about it being spiritual or having soul. We think about it with worry, will it replace us? Will it replace our jobs? And Stephanie Sylvester from Avatar Body is here today to talk to us about optimizing versus humanizing. Stephanie, my opening provocative question for you is I'm holding nothing back today. Does AI have a soul?
AI has a soul depending on how you configure it. So what does that really mean? Yeah, what does that mean? So what we create digital twins of people and what is a digital twin? I give you a personality questionnaire and you complete it and then I conduct an interview about your life and you tell me about your life in ten year intervals and I take all of that data And we give it to the the interview, we give it to the small language model to process. And then the personality questionnaire, we have a rubric that we use to interpret what that is. And from that, we create what's called a system prompt. So the AI behaves like you. So from that perspective, it's kind of having a soul. And so we've done a bunch of tests where we'll ask the same.
Question. To different digital twins, And while the core answer remains the same, the way the AI re expresses itself is drastically different based on the personality of the person whose digital twin we're asking. So does it have a soul or doesn't it have a soul? I think that we've created a soul. If people have souls and we can replicate a version of a person, yes, it has a soul.
Why do I even need a digital twin? I mean, I know why I I need a digital twin, but why does anybody want a digital twin?
So why do you need a digital twin? Because you're c right now as humans, we're constrained by time and space. I can only be on this podcast at this at this pace in time. But if I have a digital twin, I could be on this podcast and I could be in Belize helping some people and I could be back in my office helping my team members and I could be in Ghana helping other people. I could be providing guidance and insight. So I have a digital twin so that I can expand my reach and my scope. There's no limit to how many people I can help with a digital twin. I am constrained by time and space. Twenty four hours, seven days a week is all I can give. So I can only mentor X number of people. But if I have a digital twin that's configured like me, with my likeness, my worldview.
Then Why can't I mentor fifty million people?
That's very powerful. So will it help me then to scale? Yeah. How do I decide what I want to scale? So How does somebody start with this? So this is really something that I'm getting my own head around. And you and I we had a conversation around me building this SaaS product. where I want to take all this knowledge that I have accumulated in all these systems that I've created and now I want to make it available to everybody so they can take this and then service their own clients with a meth methodology. So I'm pretty clear on why I need this. So I think there's two pieces we need to get clear on. One is what can I do with it, which I don't know. Because I'm not an AI specialist. And then how do I need to set it up so it maximizes something that is a great unknown for me, which is to me the most difficult part about it.
Okay, so I'll just take an example of a digital twin. Uh one person we create a digital twin for her and She uses her digital twin to brainstorm. And she says that she can brainstorm quicker and faster. And she likes what the AI says because the AI is configured to speak the way she speaks.
