Does money really solve all of our problems?
Money doesn't solve all your problems. I would say money solves all your money problems. What I really believed was that money was bad and rich people were evil, and I was noble, I was a good person because I was poor. The IRS seized my restaurant and auctioned it off. I was fifty-five thousand dollars in debt, sleeping on the floor. I had self-sabotage my prosperity because I didn't think I deserved it. The subconscious mind is always gonna win that fight. And today we're talking to Randy Gage from the Prosperity Factory. And we are debunking a big myth about money. Randy, my opening question to you is Does money solve all problems and make us happy?
Hey, let's see where we go with that. Well, I would say money doesn't solve all your problems. I would say money solves all your money problems. Because there are problems that are just money problems. You have an abscess tooth, you don't have money to go to the dentist. That's a problem. Money can solve it. You want to open your business, you need a certain amount of money to start up capital. That's a money problem. Money can solve it. It won't solve you being an alcoholic, it won't solve you cheating on your spouse, it won't solve your spouse cheating on you, it won't solve your tendency to drink eighteen diet sodas a day and eat nothing but fast food and sit in front of uh television or computer screen for twelve hours a day.
So uh money is one of the things that's the elements of a prosperous life, but it certainly doesn't define a prosperous life.
Then the next question that this would lead to is What was your belief system about money? And then was that a true belief that money kind of makes it all because you like everybody else was were chasing it for a while?
Well, I think the real nuance in this question comes from What did I think I thought about money and what did I really think about money?
All right, let's take it there then.
Yeah, 'cause what I thought is, you know, the opening you gave, which was which so many people believe. Oh, if I had more money it would solve all my problems. That's what I thought I believed. And that's what I would have answered if you would have interviewed me back twenty years ago, thirty years ago, wherever. But that wasn't what I really believed. What I really believed was that money was bad and rich people were evil. And I was noble, I was a good person because I was poor.
So so so now we are already in the middle of of this completely contradictory belief system, right? So on the one hand, you're being told, I'm being told, we all are being told, make the money, hustle, get there, and then your life will be magically great. And at the same time, the message is that the people that are there are terribly evil. So how do you how did you reconcile that? Or or what happened now to you for you to you go on the journey that you eventually went on about money and prosperity.
It was about thirty years old when I was about thirty years old that the real transformation happened. I started off initially in a really bad place. I was in a jail for armed robbery at fifteen years old.

had been a teenage alcoholic, teenage drug addict. I was bitter and angry with the world because I had a single mother who was trying to raise three kids by herself. I was the middle kid. We didn't have money. I hated it. I hated being poor. So I decided I'll fix the situation. I can be like Robin Hood. I will steal from the people who have money and I will give it to the poor, as in me. So Well w when you end up in jail and you're It's
compelling. It's compelling. It's a compelling argument, right?
Well, you know, it worked great until it didn't.
Yep.
And so when you're sitting there in jail for a couple of months waiting for your trial to come up, you get a chance to rethink some of your core foundational beliefs, right? So I rethought my beliefs about that that okay. This seems to be a good way to get money in the short term, but it has a really terrible retirement plan.
