Is trust really collapsing in today’s world and why does it matter?
We are talking about trust. Is trust collapsing? Completely time I turn on the news and every time I look at something going like oh my god, trust is collapsing, trust is collapsing.
We are dealing with some of the most complex disruption that has ever occurred. There's so much that's happening that is collapsing all around us that we we can't
really control. Where trust begins is with each and every one of us. Often people ask us, Well, can you have one without the other? Not really and not for long.
Sometimes we all don't want to look in the mirror. It's not always so easy, right? It's not always so easy to look in the mirror. What's being reflected back to us? What's really at the core of trust are growing in our own awareness. Trust of character is really connected to our integrity. Sometimes we don't listen to that closely enough. Something's off.
And welcome back. Today with me, I have two doctors. It's a double doctor show with uh Dr. Michelle and Dr. Dennis Reina. And we're talking about a very loaded sensitive topic right now, something that's on everybody's mind in the age of AI deep fakes, in the age of eroding economies, recession fears, we are talking about trust. So my opening question to the both of you is is trust collapsing completely?
Well first of all, Yata, thank you so much for having us as guests on your show today.
Yeah, very delighted to be here. I can actually wait to have this conversation because time I turn on the news and every time I look at something I'm going like, Oh my God, trust is collapsing, trust is collapsing. And here you are and you're gonna help us to understand what's going on.
I think we all know that in the world around us it is collapsing. Those of us who are watching or are choosing to no longer watch the news and read the paper. I mean, we are dealing with some of the most complex disruption disruption that has has ever occurred. I think when we consider the workplace Beata and the people who are here with us, you know, listening to this show. I think everybody is turning to one another and fighting to hang on to what they can. Uh and that's the culture that leaders may have the opportunity to provide, that entrepreneurs have the opportunity to create. I think people are hanging on. To what is their own truth, what is most precious to them, which is those relationships that they have some sphere of influence on, because there's so much that's happening that is collapsing all around us that we we can't really control.
It is really out of our control. So it brings us home to our home base of what is it that we do have some control on in terms Of how we shape and influence what is the closest to us and those people and those relationships that that we work with are in service to and that we share our lives with.
Where trust begins is with each and every one of us, with our self trust. And there are three dimensions that contribute to that. There's trust of character and there's a suite of behaviors that contribute to that. And then there's trust of communication. And the suite of behaviors and trust of capability. And all three of those work hand in hand. Often people ask us, Well, can you have one without the other? Not really and not for long. We need to have them all working together. Now we may be working on each of them at a time but But they need to work together in order to be trustworthy in this changing environment.
My dad always had this quote, and I've said it mu many times on the show. My dad always had said to me, Before you go to bed and you look in the mirror, you go into the per to bed with the person that looks at you and a and never understood it until much, much later. But what he I think essentially said was that When you look in the mirror. And you're really honest and you see who you really are, you gotta be able to live with that. How does trust factor into these aspects of my personality and my my character? Why does this even matter?
Your father, what a gift. What an extraordinary source of wisdom. Because what's really at the core of trust, it is our growing in our own awareness.
