What new look and attitude is Cody Rhodes showing on SmackDown?
Welcome to the Busted Open Podcast. This is Dave LaGreca. On today's episode, myself and Bully Ray Talk SmackDown and the new Cody Rhodes. Are you all in? We discuss right now on the Busted Open Podcast, and it's post-Super Bowl. And two of the biggest Patriot fans I know after a loss, Diana Perrazzo and Tasha Steels joins us right here. on the Busted Open Podcast. This is the Busted Open Podcast. You and I discussed a lot leading up to WrestleMania 40 about Cody and you know the suit and looking proper and the tie and the jacket. And then how he would talk in his promos like he was reading from a dictionary. We're seeing a completely different Cody Rhodes T shirt, jeans. Screaming, angry, he This is completely different than the Cody that we're used to seeing.
Completely different. So let me ask you, leading up to this year's WrestleMania where as of right now, Cody does not have a match. I guess it all depends on what happens at Elimination Chamber. But what how do you feel about this new side of Cody that we're seeing in two thousand and twenty six?
I hate to make this comparison. Because I don't think it's fair to Cody to mention this other person's name in the same breath as him anymore. But I always loved Dusty looking like a disheveled mess. with the jeans on and the rock and roll t-shirt kind of half tucked in, or even when Dusty wore the suit, it looks like he had on the suit from the day before and went to the strip club and slept in the suit and then showed up to the studio in the suit the next day, still reeking of women in liquor. Like I like that type of look and Cody to me and it's worked for Cody, don't get me wrong, but it's so polished. I like a little bit of a more raw, edgy. Gritty look. And if this is what Cody ha is evolving into or morphing into, I don't have a problem with that because the wrestling business can get to you.
And Cody's been back in the WWE now for what five years or whatever it is, and through the wars he's been through and who he's had to face and who's screwing him over, and Drew McIntyre not even in the rumble, but chooses a moment in time in which he claymores uh Cody Rhodes and Cody gets eliminated. I mean, not even in the rumble and he gets to eliminate I I'm I'm not even big on that by the way. Like, how can a guy who's not in a match eliminate somebody in a match? That's a very grey area to me,
you know? Yeah, it's almost like when and we've seen it a million times, where somebody who's already been eliminated eliminating somebody in the rumble. It almost feels like it's unfair. When
Sid got eliminated, then he drags Hogan over the top rope. Like I can it's pro wrestling, it's creative license. I can kinda get around that because somebody just got eliminated and they pulled the other guy over. All right. But Drew's not even in the match. And how does a guy who's not in the match get to eliminate somebody that's in the match? Anyway, this has really pissed Cody off. And now we see Cody the other night, jeans, t-shirt, no sleeves, and he's pissed. Now I still think Cody hasn't touched into. g gotten to his genuine anger yet. I still think Cody is still Playing angry a little bit. I look forward to the day when we're getting the true anger, the true hatred, the true vitriol out of Cody. He's on his way there.
Maybe this thing against Drew can get him there even more. Maybe he's Maybe Randy is eventually the guy to get him there. But I'm I'm I'm just waiting for that true. I always go back to Anakin. I always go back to Anakin. When Anakin turns, it's like when he find when Anakin found out that the Sand people, the Tuscan Raiders, had kidnapped his mother. And he just did what a Jedi should never do. He just killed everybody at will. And he couldn't save his own mother. And that's where they something like that with Cody.
Yeah, and and and it's a great point, Bully, because we're not seeing that yet from Cody, case in point what we heard on Friday. Like, did we see that passionate, angry side from Cody? Yeah.
How do Dave and Bully evaluate Cody’s promo style and presentation?
But he was also having a little fun.
