The real story last night and the thread throughout the show wasn't about AJ. And it wasn't about CM Punk. It was about Finn Balor. And you know, Finn who For the most part In the last decade since he got injured after becoming universal champion has not been in the main event scene. We see him in a main event match against CM Punk last week, and he probably has the match.
Of the last decade for Finn Balor. And we were wondering, is that just a one off? You know, we've seen a lot of st start and stops when it comes to Finn Balor. The last thing I was expecting last night, the week of the Royal Rumble, was for the big story on Monday Night Raw to be about Finn Balor, and that's exactly what the story thread was last night on Raw.
The last time we were together was What was one of the biggest things we talked about? Concerning Finn Balor. Just in you know There hasn't been a lot to him in the last ten years. We wanted to see Finn Balor on his own. I said after I watched Finn and Punk, I was like, damn. It reminded me of how much I loved Finn on his own as opposed to being part of the judgment day. And last night That's what we got. We kinda got him on his own. Yeah, Liv got in his grill and Liv's like, don't forget about who your family is. But out he was out there on his own last night doing what he did. And that was a significant beatdown to CM Punk last night. It was. It was Bronson Reed-esque. And I think I'm mentioning Bronson Reed because tsunami bombs and uh you know Finn going off the top rope with a couple of coup de gras.
That was a good beatdown of punk. And seeing Finn standing there on his own, I just like it better. That's my personal preference. I'm not saying that's what the WWE should do. I just think for me, Finn Balor by himself resonates and connects a lot more.
I d I'm just glad, Bully, that they did a follow-up. That we just didn't see a match last week and it's all right, hey, we're we're near Finn's hometown. Let's throw him a bone on Monday Night Raw. We know there's gonna be a lot of crowd excitement. We'll give him the match. But then he goes back to being just a member of the judgment day and and then does what he's been doing for the last few years. I loved the story. You know, first you have Finn going up to Punk and saying, Hey man, you gave me my flowers last week, but because of all the chaos and everything that was happening, I wasn't able to give you yours. Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for getting me that match. You know, what a great match it was.
They shake hands and then Punk is like, dude, kind of like what you're saying, Bully, it's time for you to break off the judgment day. Like, you know, you've done a lot for, you know, Dom and everybody else, but man, if you really wanna be recognized, you really wanna be respected, you gotta go out on your own. Enough of enough with the judgment day. And kind of like It It wasn't like a pat on the head. But I'll leave it at that. Then you get Liv Morgan, understandably so, being upset. At Finn and being like, what are you doing? Why are you going up to CM Punk and thanking him? You had a championship match and you lost. You lost. Like, why why are you going up to him and thanking him? Because it was Punk that gave Finn the opportunity.
But it's also Finn you're Finn Balor.
