Tommy, I'm very excited right now. Me too. And I know you're very excited right now. We're kinda we're we're both 54 years old, but we're gonna turn into little kids for probably the next 20 minutes, and we're gonna mark out just a little bit because I'm so uh honored. And happy to bring on our next guest. He's a pro wrestling uh Hall of Famer inducted in 2019. A guy that I always enjoyed watching back in the day. The Hands of Stone. Rugged Ronnie Garvin. Mr. Garvin, thank you for joining us on Busted Open this morning. It's an absolute pleasure to have you on our show.
Well, it's a pleasure also for me. Good on. And I I think you guys got the good attitude. You joke a lot, you play a lot, and you sometimes you don't behave and that's the good time.
It it it's pretty funny, you know, we're we're always very honest with our fan base who listen every morning. And i in the break when when Ronnie Garvin came on, I asked Ronnie, I go, Ronnie, do you know who we are? And Ronnie said, No. I said, Ah, it's okay, we're a bunch of fat jobbers who came after your time. He goes, Well, you guys did pretty well yourself. So But um Mr. Garvin, like I said, it's so great to have you on and you know, such great matches from you back in the day. Uh I'm gonna I'm just gonna start off and and then I know Tommy has a bunch of questions for you also. W when it comes to your career, and I don't really like to ask about what was your favorite time, but what's the part of your career that i is is the most fond memory for you?
When did you really enjoy doing what we do?
The whole time of my career. Nice. I mean runner! Grow up. Sometimes I pinch myself. You know, did I really do this? Did I really do that? Do you know? Uh I started in wrestling uh in Canada. And uh a lot of guys came out of there. Like uh Uh what's his name? Uh Terry Garvin, Pep Patterson. It was a boy, I don't know if you ever heard those names, but Buncha guys. And for some reason Well, they were older than me. They were probably four or five years old ahead of me. And when I broke in I went to Boston. That's where everybody went to learn. You know, from that school. To Boston. Well How do you learn in wrestling? Well, if you keep working out with each other you don't learn anymore. You know. You know, so you're equal.
Well you go wrestle. I went to Boston and I wrestle guys like Bull Montana, Bull Korea. I was seventeen years old, told everybody I was nineteen. I was the only kid in the room of occasionally there'd be maybe another one or two guys my age, nineteen, twenty, twenty one. It was hard to break in in a lot of a lot of these territories. Very hard. And uh of course they didn't pay you much. That's probably what it took you. You know, just What? I wrestle guys that have been wrestling all the they was on their way out of their career. They were forty, forty, forty five, fifty years old. How do you learn? You learn with the guys that have been around. That's what's missing today. They call it wrestling, but nobody takes a hole.
I'm watching that sometimes and I'm going, Well, that's wrestling. You know, it's okay to kick, punch and you know, sometimes, you know, chairs, whatever, you know, that's okay that part. But uh That's a that's a big plus when you're wrestling somebody that's in the business and uh and they they keep you in a ring forty, fifty minutes, your tongue is hanging out. And they're laughing. You know, because they're slow. They they they know how to do it. Every time they cover you, they put their weight on them, you know. Put their weight on you, you know. It's like they're playing with you. And they didn't hurt me. A few rattle with your head when they give you these forehead upside the head. That's how they give you cauliflower year.
I'm lucky I never got one.
