What is the main premise of the Raw episode and why is Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar so important?
Welcome to the Busted Open Podcast. This is Dave LaGreca. On today's episode, myself and Bully Ray talk all about Monday Night Raw, especially that end with Roman Reigns and CM Punk, and of course, Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi. A lot to do right here on the Busted Open Podcast. This is the Busted Open Podcast.
Podcast. I am as invested in Oba Femi versus Brock Lesnar as I am either of the two main events at WrestleMania. Hard to disagree
with those words, Bully, after what we saw last night and last week. In two weeks
The WWE has gotten me so invested in this match. And it's because they kept it simple, stupid. What more does there to say? This is the beauty of pro wrestling when it's done correctly. Obafemi is a brand new talent called up from NXT. Looks the part. presented as big of a star as anybody else on the roster right now. The ruler. Not afraid to get face to face With the beast. And Brock Lesnar is the baddest motherfucker in the WWE. End of story. Last week we saw Oba Femi. Sit out powerbomb Brock Lesnar. We all gasped. Wow. Brock got manhandled. Man handled by Obafemi. Not only did Obafemi get Brock up for the power bomb, but He held him up for the power bomb and then dropped him when he felt like dropping him. This week
Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar are in the ring, and Paul Heyman reminds us That Brock Lesnar beat the shit out of twenty men by himself. He then reminds us that Seth Rollins distracted Brock Lesnar, and that's why Obafemi. was able to hit out hit that power bomb on him. Maybe Obafemi was gonna be listening and say to himself, Yeah, you know what? He did beat up twenty guys. Yeah, Seth really distracted him. Maybe that's why I was able to get the upper hand on Brock. A fluke. A fluke. It was a fluke. Maybe I should think twice about going out there tonight. Obafemi's music, the light the place goes. Dark. Lights out. Obis music. The green neon lights, the lasers. And out comes the rula. And I love how they shoot Oba.
They shoot him from down low up high. In the glaring spotlight. You just see the outline of this monster. Who is as unintimidated as anybody I has ever seen? Especially when he knows he has to walk to the ring to face Brock Lesnar. Oba doesn't hesitate. Oba walks the walk. The people are into the Oba entrance. They're strutting like Oba. They're doing the Fans are firmly behind Obafemi. Now Oba gets up onto the apron and he enters the ring. And we have the face to face. And this is where a word that I have been using for years.
How did Oba Femi manage to power‑bomb Brock Lesnar and why was it considered a fluke?
comes into play. Separation. You always want to create separation. Think of two like rams. The animal, a ram, mountain rams. When they come colliding together. What do they do immediately after they collide? They separate separate again. Because that separation Is what really Set the tone. for when they're gonna come together again. And when Oba gets in, Brock and Oba as are as far apart from one another in the ring as you can possibly be. And with each step forward. The anticipation builds. The simmer. The boil. And then when they're in striking distance, Brock says, I ain't waiting. And he goes for the kick. Oba reverses everything. Brock tries to pick up Obafemi for the F five. He couldn't get him up. Now I don't know if they were painting the picture that Obafemi was able to counter the F five or Brock wasn't strong enough to get up this monster.
But Oba slip slides it, pushes Brock into the ropes, Brock hooks those ropes, but Oba comes charging in and clotheslines Brock right over the top rope backwards. And Oba fires up and grabs that top rope and ultimate warrior mode is engaged. And the people were going crazy. The look on Brock Brock's face said it all. Shark. Complete shock. Not like shock like wide-eyed mouth open. Shock as in frozen the thousand yard stare. Oh my God, how did that just happen to me? What is it about this kid? Two weeks in a row. Obafemi has done to Brock Lesnar. What I can't remember has ever happened to Brock Lesnar.
I can't think of it off the top of my head because I don't think it's ever happened.
The segment was a major, major success.
