Today I'm speaking to Crimeworld's Ema Rabbit about the gun attack and its suspected links to feuding in South Dublin. I'm Niall Donald and this is Crimeworld, a podcast from Crimeworld.com. So a Dublin criminal has survived a second uh attempt on his life, a second shooting attempt on his life in twenty four hours. What what tell us first about the latest incident?
Yeah, so the latest incident happened on the NASE road at an apartment complex. So uh just after midnight. So basically Tuesday night, but technically really early hours of Wednesday morning, um the uh gunmen discharged shots at an apartment complex um and nobody was injured, but I suppose Gardi were investigating and the reports were circulating, but it turns out that it's more to it than the initial report would suggest because Robin Schiller, our colleague in the Irish Independent, has reported that this guy was auto-targeted on Monday night. And we actually had that story up in Crimeworld about a shooting incident. Um, basically shots were fired at a van on Inchicore Road. Uh sorry, on Jameson Road in Insy Corsa, very close to not too far from the Nice Road, um on Monday night around ten o'clock and a man and his son were in the van, the van sped off and the the shots were I don't know if they hit the van, but they were directed at the van.
Um so basically the same person was targeted in both these instances.
Yeah, and this the first incident seems that a guy on an e-scooter uh came up with a a shotgun and and fired at him while he was in the van and he drove away. So I suppose that would give an indication of, you know, the these the hitman on a e scooter with a shot with a shotgun has probably shows you that this is a very localized situation.

Now what do we know about the guy who's been targeted?
So he's in his late uh thirties and he has some convictions for drug dealing and he has been appeared in the courts. Like we um, you know, he's been given uh sentences for possession of weapons, um, I think was uh most recent case. Um so he does have some convictions, but I suppose he's known for being, you know, known to the South Dublin area and having kind of been involved in feuding in that area. Um I think he was involved in a feud with associates of Josh Uzelli, who was the youngster who died after um he was hit in the head with a with a bullet from a machine gun in twenty twenty four.
Yeah, so Josh Itzeli's uh death was very tragic. I mean, I don't know if it's a murder investigation at this stage though. It was initially put down as a as a gangland murder. But what it seemed was that um Josh Itzelli was in the back of a stolen car with a number of uh associates, friends, and they were rammed uh as part of this ongoing feud. And after the car was rammed, Josh Itali was either carrying or the guy beside him was holding a uh an AK-47 or sorry, an what is it, an AR 15 machine gun uh army rifle machine gun. machine gun as they call it an American made. The gun went off accidentally uh when the car hit when the car was hit and he was shot and died uh pretty much at the scene.

This has there's been that that will that incident itself was part of this sort of low level feud. Yeah. And it's been going on in the South Inner City probably You know, mostly around sort of street dealing in particular, crack dealing in a number of places in the South Inner City.

This guy has been linked to the other side basically.
He has. And I suppose the tragedy of the Joshelli, um, you know, was obviously that it was it seemed to be some kind of accidental discharge, but also that it was i he may have been actually been killed by associates of his own.
