What is the illusion of control and how does it impact success?

Hillary McVeigh 0:00
Hello, my loves, welcome back to the Design Just You podcast. You're here with me, Hilary, and today we're all going to be speaking about releasing the illusion that we are the controller, releasing the illusion that you are not being divinely guided, orchestrated, that there is a higher power and how we can move with conviction in leadership and really understand that our energetic frequency and nervous system is our number one strategy. So I want to start out with the biggest illusion that we have in life, the most rampant, just lie that we are sold is that you are somehow separate from what is divinely possible, from what is infinitely available from nature, from universe. You know, this has been really indoctrinated into
Hillary McVeigh 0:52
centuries and centuries ago as a way of control, of saying that you do not have a direct connection to God, you know, if we really think about it. Let's think about medieval times.

How does divine orchestration manifest in our lives?

Hillary McVeigh 1:02
The people of power said that they were your only connection to a higher source. So you had to maybe pay the church, you maybe had to revere a leader, and it was always they were the connector to safety, they were the connector to wisdom, they were the connector to being saved. And what we have lost over time, and it's rampant in this way that we do not trust ourselves. We feel like there is something imperfect about us. There's something that you are missing. There's something that you have to control.

What distinguishes clean action from forced action in business?

Hillary McVeigh 1:33
And what this does is that it holds this heavy burden that you have to make it happen. You have to figure everything out. You have to control the outcomes. You have to perfectly plan. You have to do all the right things. And

How does attachment distort your energetic frequency?

Hillary McVeigh 1:46
You even see it in a business lens. People stress themselves out when it comes to like, am I doing the right business strategy? How do I get people into my container? How do I get people, you know, this whole get and control and plan? And what I have learned over the years, especially in business, is that there is such a higher power that's working through me that I cannot ignore. plan out, I cannot control.

What evidence can you create to feel supported in your journey?

Hillary McVeigh 2:09
And a really obvious example is when inside our spaces, inside the certification, inside the retreats, I could never, ever orchestrate the transformations these people have. I could never plan or understand how it would change the way that they relate to their family members. I would never be able to control or micromanage how they change within themselves, their whole relationship within themselves, their business, all the things. You know, I could not plan what goes through a breathwork session in a retreat space. I could not plan the realizations that happen.

How does identity influence the process of manifestation?

Hillary McVeigh 2:46
When we're in a wisdom session inside the certification, I could never know in the future to understand that this person would 10 times their business within the certification space. And I can think of one specific example. Her whole business, she was ready to burn it down. She was ready to let go. She'd been 20 years in this business. And then she incorporated human design that she learned within the certification and it totally transformed her business.

Why is nervous system regulation crucial for success?

Hillary McVeigh 3:10
She said people couldn't get enough of it. And she sent me this loom about how it totally had changed her business and how she was able to understand her clients. They felt seen. And then she didn't have to sell anymore. She said she would just talk to people about their human design. They felt so seen in that.

What does it mean to love with conviction in business and leadership?

Hillary McVeigh 3:25
So they signed up with her. I could never plan this out. The same with, you know, my career. If I look back, and this is the thing with hindsight, we hindsight and we think all makes sense. But I could not have mapped out my career. I could not have mapped out that when I left law and moved to Berlin, that I would end up learning this modality called human design. And I would meet incredible teachers and I would go through many deep, profound experiences that when I was in my dark night of the soul, when I was in Berlin, that it would eventuate to this. this life, this business, this home I have, this relationship I have, the friendships I have.
