Chapter 1: Who are Kim and Grandma Gail and what is their current setting?
Welcome back to another episode of Excuse My Grandma. It's Kim and my co-hosts. Grandma Gail.
Grandma, what's new with you? Well, since I've seen you yesterday, not much. I know.
I feel like there's less to catch up on when we're actually in the same place because we're talking outside of the podcast versus I feel like some co-hosts, like they only see each other once a week when they have to record and they like have a list of things they need to catch up on. Sometimes we don't see each other for weeks.
Yeah, but this week we do. So I think the only difference would be is my hair.
the color all right or is your hair all right i mean you know we see each other 24 7. but what's doing is that it's been a beautiful week um you know all the noise around uh florida uh is sort of uh going away since the boats have left so we're not hysterical but now actually i think the national football league is here so i see all the the football players and all the paraphernalia being set up where i live and uh so it's going to be a beach
Since when is Palm Beach such a thing?
I think it's become a very big convention area. And so they have big, big events here because the hotel is... They always had that, though. Yeah, but I think springtime now is even the busiest because the weather's the best. They can set up the tents properly.
And, you know, they had a big tennis tournament last week for the first time here because they put grass tennis courts in, which are magnificent. And there was a big tennis tournament.
I thought that was Miami.

Chapter 2: What are the generational differences in manners and etiquette?
Yeah, but you know, I was looking at them.
on Instagram, of course, you know, I scroll all the time and they had a whole Paris Fashion Week a couple of weeks ago. And everybody on the street, they look different because they put it together a little better. But you can't be so basic. They're also wearing the jeans, the sweater, the oversized jacket, the oversized trench coat.
It's just how they put it together, which, you know, for some reason, when you walk in the streets of Paris and Milan,
people don't look the same as new york it might be just like a placebo effect they tie their scarves differently they they wear their bags a little differently it's the same stuff it's just how like you say put it together speaking of i was scrolling through social media the other day and i saw this couple that was out for dinner i think he might have been a famous dj or something well they tried to go to a restaurant in miami but they turned him away because he was wearing a t-shirt oh a lot of people want jackets
Yeah, but do you think that's like an outdated thing? No. Even if the, whether it's a fancy restaurant or just a trendy restaurant or whatever, like the no jeans or no t-shirt rule to me seems outdated as you're saying that's what everybody wears.
Yeah, well, but you know what? If you're going to a restaurant, I know here I was just at some place Saturday night called The Carriage House and a gentleman, young couple came in. It's like a private club, yeah. And he was not wearing a jacket. They loaned him a jacket. No, I don't think anybody insists on wearing the ties anymore, no matter where you are.
But, you know, it is somewhat, if you're in some place that is beautiful, they don't want you to look grungy. You know, it's not part of the scene. It almost takes away from the scene.
Yeah, I feel like generationally there are manners that are kind of different. Like you would have expected to wear a jacket and a tie and a tie. And also even with like communication and things, we've talked about this, but like there's certain etiquette rules of texting that I feel like generationally are different. Like, you'll leave me a voicemail and I'm like, can you just text me?
Like, I am not listening to a voice. To me, like a voicemail is like, now you expect me to take time to listen to this?
