Hello everyone, welcome back to the Fitness Education Online podcast. Today I'm joined by Sophia, a fitness coach who takes a slightly different approach to phase goals by looking at them through the lens of nervous system support. We're diving into how stress, recovery, and regulation play a huge role in fat loss and muscle building and why sometimes the key to better results isn't pushing harder but supporting the body better. So a huge welcome to you, Sophia. Welcome to the podcast. How are you doing today? Hi.
Hi, it's such a pleasure to be here. Yeah, I'm very well. I'm really excited to be on this today.
Yay, it's so exciting to have you here. And kinda like what we were saying before, I feel like this is just such a um important topic for fitness professionals to be more aware of, but just to better understand why it is such a crucial part of helping our clients achieve, you know, the the best results that they can. So I know you're gonna break it all down for us and I'll before I get too ahead of myself, I'll give it back over to you. Can you just share a little bit about who you are, what you do and sort of your background in the fitness industry?
Yeah, sure, absolutely. So as Beck mentioned, my name's Sophia. I've been in the fitness industry for fifteen years now. It's been a very long time. Um and my background I started in Muay Thai actually. So it's something yeah, something completely different to being present and regulated. Um I learned through contrast and then I worked with Amazing industry um professionals like Dr. Tony Pataji, Luke Britton from Momentum Fitness and Anthony Kazala Casalakis. I can't say his name. Um and they've all just had different diverse streams of information and I've refined and then I've had hands-on experience with 15 years with thousands of clients, um, primarily face-to-face, and then I've been on the online space as well.
So it's been a journey and I've seen many different people and I've just drawn I've drawn so much knowledge from all of these hands-on experiences and and um education and learning that I know First hand uh nervous system regulation directly impacts results.
Mm. Amazing. Yeah. And so on that note, getting into the nervous system side of stuff, what sort of led you to focus more on supporting the nervous system and your coaching as well? Like was there um was it through sort of that like personal experience? Did you really start to see through your clients the need for it?
It's both to be honest, like Everything I practice, I've preached, or I've experienced in one way, shape or form. Um, I will explain two clients that really impacted uh the way that I approach training, but also myself. So I was very dysregulated. I was pushing myself from every angle, burning myself from both ends. running two businesses. I still do, but better managed now. Um, and I realized burnout was hindering my own progress and results. I've done an amazing transformation uh for myself, but I've tried to do that for many years previous to the success I've had now and I realised that Pushing more did not allow me to get results. It hindered me, it pulled me back. And then I realize these patterns with um
quite a few of my clients because I've had the luxury of working with diverse range of individuals. Um but we'll talk about two in particular. There was one um one high performing um male that I worked with. He was an in house А лоя фонари біг фо банкс. He had a trainer four years prior to working with me and I took audit and I looked at everything so I looked at training history, exercise history, what he's currently um used to. Then I looked at nutrition, digestion, sleep, and I started looking at what are the factors outside of him. So external factors like work pressure, family pressure. all of these things and gathered all this data and realized okay, the guy has discipline, he has consistency.
