What recent events have escalated tensions with Iran?
Targeting Iran's uranium. I'm Jack Callahan, Fox News. The Natanz nuclear facility has been hit in an airstrike, as Fox's Lucas Tomlinson reports from Dubai.
Natanz is one of the three nuclear sites hit over the summer during Midnight Hammer. It's located about 150 miles south of Tehran, and that's Iran's main nuclear enrichment site. A lot of centrifuges spinning that uranium-235 isotope, getting it from nuclear power grade to nuclear weapons grade.
And for many, they thought that President Trump might sending ground troops to get some of this nuclear material. There's others that just want to blow it up and drop bombs on. And that appears what happened last night.
Now, President Trump providing his latest battle update brief on his way to the winter White House on the South Lawn and later posting about it on True Social, saying he thinks this war can be wrapped up perhaps rather quickly.
Iran has fired missiles at a joint American-British military base on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Long security lines linger at many of the country's airports because of the partial government shutdown. Here's Fox's Madeline Rivera.
Another frustrating day at airports across the country as travelers face long lines with no idea as to when the situation will improve. The national call-out rate for TSA workers was more than 10% on Wednesday, causing major delays. 38% of TSA employees called out at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Roughly the same percentage of TSA workers called out at Houston's George Bush Airport.
The peak wait time nearing an hour for passengers going through standard screening. The Senate is set to convene for a rare weekend session today. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wants to take a procedural vote to fund TSA, but not the rest of DHS. And it comes after the Senate failed to advance a bill to fund the department a fifth time on Friday.
Congressional Democrats say they'll not support a DHS funding bill unless reforms to ICE and Border Patrol are included in it. America's listening to Fox News.
