Chapter 1: What progress has been made in the search for Nancy Guthrie?
Possible progress in the search for Nancy Guthrie. I'm Kathleen Maloney, Fox News. A glove found near Guthrie's Tucson home has been tested for DNA.
This glove could be a significant piece of evidence, but at this point, we simply don't know. The glove was found about two miles away on the side of the road, and investigators say that it does... look similar to the glove that was worn by the suspect who was caught on surveillance camera outside of Nancy Guthrie's home.
The glove was sent to a lab in Florida for testing, and according to the FBI, the preliminary results are now in, and they're waiting on official confirmation before putting the unknown male profile into the FBI's DNA database called CODIS. This process typically takes 24 hours from when the FBI receives DNA. If the FBI does get a DNA hit, it could help identify the suspect.
But the operative word here is could.
Chapter 2: What are the implications of the Department of Homeland Security's funding issues?
Fox's Max Gordon. The Department of Homeland Security is unfunded and will likely remain so for at least the next week.
Alabama GOP Senator Katie Britt said while Democrats seek changes in ICE enforcement, they've missed the big picture.
They know that ICE and CBP will continue to be funded throughout this, but they know that the other things that keep Americans safe will not.
She refers to agencies such as FEMA, the Coast Guard, and TSA. Delaware Democratic Senator Chris Coons said a deal for federal agents to use body cams and remove masks can make this a hopefully temporary disagreement over the standards of conduct of the officers who operate under the Department of Homeland Security. Both senators were on Fox News Sunday.
No deal is likely this week with the House and Senate in recess. Grinnell Scott, Fox News.
And the Daytona 500 winner is... Tyler Reddick comes to the line.
