It's already led to thousands of flight delays and cancellations. Fox's Madison Scarpino is at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Oklahoma City Airport has now canceled all departure and arrival flights today due to the winter storm. And if you're trying to fly in and out of somewhere like Dallas, you may want a backup plan. Here are some travelers there yesterday who got out just before it was too late. We are going straight, instead of going nonstop from here to Honolulu, we're going to LAX and down.
I decided to go to a warm place and go down. It's scary because we're leaving the wife and the younger brother at home. So we're just hoping the power doesn't go out and they're okay. We've got the firewood all set aside and the neighbors are there to help them.
Chapter 3: How are airports responding to flight cancellations due to the storm?
Because of all these cancellations and disruptions, most airlines are offering travel waivers.
There are thousands of confirmed power outages across the South. Snow is falling now across much of the plains. Fox Weather's Mike Seidel is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Today's temperature is absurdly cold for Tulsa, 9 or 10 degrees. That is 40 degrees colder than average. As far as the roadway goes, roadways, there's going to be little if any melting today, even though we have daylight because it's so cold. And the temperatures stay cold into tomorrow. Now, we've got another batch of snow coming in this evening and tonight into tomorrow morning.
That's why we're still thinking. upwards of a foot of snow. Power outages have been minimal. You know why? We don't have any ice. It's snow. It's not heavy wet snow. So our power outage is now just over 2,000 statewide.
But there are tens of thousands of confirmed outages in Texas, and that number is expected to get higher. Now, this storm is going to sweep into the Northeast and New England, where they could get well over a foot of snow in many places. America's listening to Fox News.
