States of emergency are spreading. Lisa Brady, Fox News, with winter storm warnings stretching from New Mexico to the northeast and ice warnings from Arkansas to the Carolinas.
And that's going to be primarily for freezing rain and some sleet. And power in those areas could be out for days. I'm not kidding. This is a very serious situation. We could get up to an inch of ice on trees and power lines and they snap.

U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett set jury selection in the trial of Luigi Mangione for September 8th. She said the rest of the trial schedule, including opening statements and testimony, is contingent on whether she allows prosecutors to seek the death penalty. Garnett said if the death penalty is still in play, the next phase of the trial won't start until January 2027. If it isn't, opening statements will start on October 13th.

Mangione is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel on December 4th, 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to federal and state murder charges.
