And the president says the International Energy Agency will release 400 million barrels of oil, which he says will bring the price of oil down. Still, crude oil futures are up about $2.50 to over $91 a barrel.
The military considering using the Navy to escort commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump urging oil companies to, quote, show some guts and send their tankers through the Strait. The U.S. military has no plan in place to escort those ships given the threat of Iranian mines, drones, and anti-ship missiles fired from shore. Iran also has submarines that can hide at the bottom of the seabed near the two-mile opening.
Last night, CENTCOM announced it had blown up 16 Iranian mine-laying boats, but the Iranians can lay mines from any small craft. The 50 Iranian warships that CENTCOM has sunk were part of Iran's traditional navy, not among the small fastboats the IRGC uses to threaten the Strait of Hormuz.
