Chapter 1: What historic weather events are forecasted across the U.S.?
40 states in the path. I'm Lisa Lucera, Fox News. Forecasters say this storm that's spanning more than 2,000 miles could be historic.
And a big concern for the south is freezing rain. North Mississippi, we're thinking over an inch of ice. So that's going to be widespread power outages that are probably going to last a long time. One of the bigger ice storms that we've seen in a while. We've also got some ice that's in the forecast from Atlanta up through Charlotte.
Raleigh, Richmond, Roanoke, et cetera, that's going to be enough to cause a lot of power outages as well. Probably not quite as bad as our friends farther off toward the southwest there. Fox weather's Ari Sarsalari.
The northeast is expected to get about a foot of snow or more in some spots, with Fox weather saying it's predicted to mix with freezing rain overnight Sunday into Monday. Maryland Governor Wes Moore says if you must travel tomorrow, be prepared.
Once this storm begins, you will see... It will be intense, so we want people to start moving off the roads as soon as tomorrow. Put blankets, water, and food in your vehicle before you leave.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul says upstate will be brutally cold.
If you're heading up to the north country, you're living in that beautiful part of our state. You better bundle up. You'll be experiencing minus 40 to minus 50 degree wind chills.
People on the path of the storm are stocking up on necessities, with many stores running out of supplies. One day after President Trump announced a framework deal with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on security for Greenland, Denmark's prime minister paid a visit to the country.
President Trump wants to bring the Golden Dome missile defense shield here to Greenland. It comes at a hefty price of $175 billion. Experts say it's probably going to be even more expensive. Fox's Lucas Tomlinson in New Greenland.

For the third season in a row, there will be 12 teams in the playoff. Executive Director Rich Clark stated Friday this will give the Management Committee additional time to review the 12-team format so they can better assess the need for potential change. Another year of evaluation will be helpful.
ESPN reports SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey supported expansion to a 16-team field, but Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti would only get on board if there was an agreement to expand the playoff to 24 teams after three years.
